Furlough Scheme Ends

The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme is ending on 30 September 2021. The Government will pay claims for August & September 2021 at the rate of 60% of wages up to maximum cap of £1,875 for furloughed hours. Claims for August 2021 must be submitted by 14 September 2021 and claims for September must be submitted by 14 October 2021. Click Here for the most up to date information!

Vaccine Passports

The government has introduced legislation which makes it compulsory for those working in regulated care homes to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Introducing a mandatory vaccine policy could bring about the following discrimination claims:

Age: Not all age groups have been offered both vaccines yet

Pregnancy: The guidance has changed on this so again, there may not have been an opportunity to have received both vaccines yet.

Disability: Some employees may have specific medical conditions which means certain vaccines may not be suitable for them.

Religion or belief: Some employees may have refused vaccinations based on this.
If you are looking at introducing a similar policy, we would recommend conducting a survey first which The HR People can guide you through.

Right to Work Checks

We have been trying to keep you up to date about the changing requirements of physical right to work checks and the most recent date to start them has now been extended from 1st September 2021 until 5th April 2022.

We would still recommend completing physical checks where possible. The government are reviewing this and may introduce a permanent digital solution in the future.

We will continue to update you on the progress of this.
